In Loving Memory of Sweet Abby
Dear friends, today we want to shine a very bright light on a very special girl, Abby! Abby came to see us in our Denver studio late last year. Her dad reached out with very sad news that his sweet Abby had been diagnosed with cancer, and they wanted to capture some beautiful photos to help celebrate her and memorialize her adorable smile and soul forever. Within just a couple of days, Abby was wagging her tail all around our studio, smiling, playing and stealing our hearts!
Like most furkid pawrents, Abby’s mom + dad loved Abby so so much and had always planned on doing professional pet photos with her. Admittedly, they never thought of the possibility that they might run out of time before it was too late. While we obviously wish and encourage everyone to document their babies early on and periodically throughout the years, we understand that sometimes, life does not work out as planned. That’s why we are always happy to move our schedules around in these time-sensitive and unforeseen circumstances.
We absolutely loved getting to meet and photograph Abby and her parents. Abby was an absolute sweetheart and made the session so fun. She modeled some of her fave accessories, like a supaw cute bow-tie and her fave scarf with the letter “A” on it, which of course stands for Abby. Abby also got to play fetch and had brought her fave little toy stuffed buddy with her too.
It broke our heart when Abby’s dad reached out a few months later to let us know that sweet Abby had passed. To say we were crushed is an understatement. Losing a pet is like losing a piece of your heart. As they say, “Dogs’ lives are too short. Their only fault, really.” But I know that for Abby’s parents, having her in their lives was the greatest gift, and they will cherish her and the memories they hold of her in their hearts forever. As will we. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
I can’t tell you how truly grateful we are to have been able to utilize this pet photography experience to capture and document the love and incredible bond this family has. Bianca, Jasper + Annabelle are just the cutest and totally stole our hearts. We wish them all nothing but the very best for the future and have no doubt they will share many many wonderful memories for years to come. #westielove XOXO, WYTP
Don’t think of her as gone away –
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets –
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost –
And she was loved so much.
