Denver Area Pet Photo Shoot Location Guide

Using Our Guide

You want to book a session with us, or already have, but you don’t know where you want to have your session… now what?  Don’t fret, we got you!

If you know exactly where you want to have your photo session with us, yeahy!!  I’m so excited to hear all about it.  But many of my new clients aren’t sure where exactly they want to hold their session, and that is totally understandable!  While we live in such a gorgeous city and state, pinpointing a location that is both beautiful, fits your personality and fits your + your furkids’ needs can be daunting.  But no worries, that’s what I’m here for!  While I am by no means the know-it-all guru of potential Denver and surrounding area shoot locations, I do have a bunch of favorites that always work well.

To make it easy, I have broken these locations into “type” or “vibe” and also no travel fee and travel fee locations:

WITHIN OUR TRAVEL RANGE - NO TRAVEL FEES

Denver Parks

Iconic Denver parks with lots of greenery and flowers + Crabapple Trees in the Spring; some fall foliage too – but no aspens.

City Park

2001 Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80205

LOCATIONS THAT ARE FURTHER OUT + HAVE A TRAVEL FEE

Mountains Views / Winter Wonderland

Lake Dillon

This location is about 1.5 hours each way from Denver (near Frisco) and I highly recommend choosing a weekday for this location, because traffic into the mountains on a weekend can be brutal. Otherwise, if you have to have a weekend date, I would go for a Saturday morning to help avoid traffic.

Loveland Pass

This is one of the highest elevation locations and will give you stunning panoramic Colorado Rocky Mountain views. It does get pretty windy and cold up there, so weather will have an impact on whether we can shoot or not. ($100 travel fee)

Fall Colors

Guanella Pass

This location is near Georgetown and is about 1.5 hours from Denver. For fall colors, we stop and shoot all along the pass. This location does get super busy on weekends, so weekday would be ideal. If you have to do a weekend, I would suggest a morning slot or a late afternoon slot. ($150 travel fee - $100 if cash)

Lair o’ the Bear Park

Lair O’the Bear is a beautiful spot for sessions, just west of Morrison, CO. There is a little bit of walking to the pretty spots, but nothing strenuous and no significant elevation gain. You get the feel of being in the mountains without traveling up steep winding roads. It also has a pretty river, gorgeous fields and foothills. In the fall, this is a gorgeous and easy to get to spot to have the changing Aspens in the background. Because of its proximity to Denver and Morrison, this location does get reaaaaally busy on weekends with lots of people hiking, especially with their pups. This is also a popular spot for family photographers and so the weekends are just packed. If you’d like this location, I HIGHLY recommend booking a weekday.

Beaver Brook Watershed Trailhead

Beaver Brook Watershed is a dream during the fall season. The parking lot and trailhead are located right of Squaw Pass and without the need to hike very far at all, you’re in the middle of gorgeous Aspen trees with mountain views. This location is *very* popular with engagement and family photographers, so in the fall time, the weekends there are packed with other people and photographers. Also, the number of parking spots is decent but not plentiful, so I HIGHLY recommend booking this location on a weekday if you can.
