FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does a typical photo shoot last?

For Package #1, about 45-60 minutes. For Package #2, about 75-100 minutes. Our studio session is up to 45 mins. However, nothing is set in stone. In general we’re going to take as much time as it takes to get the photos you want. There is no need to rush, but we understand you might have somewhere to whisk off to, so just let us know and we will work around your schedule!

I would like to be in some of the photos with my pet, is that included in your packages?

Oh my gosh, yes! In fact, family photos with pets and their humans is one of our favorite things to do if you’re up for it. We want your WYTP experience to be a bonding experience for you and your pet. Most of all, we want you to have beautiful photographs that capture that bond. So put on your purdy/handsome face and cheese it up with your furkid!

But here’s an important caveat: First and foremost, I’m a pet photographer. My focus is on your furkid(s). If you are looking for traditional family portraits and just want to have your pet in them, I’m probably not your gal. Also, I find that having more than 2 humans in a shoot makes it very difficult for me to really focus on capturing the pets. The more people, the harder it becomes. That being said, there are so many photogs here in Colorado that focus just on family sessions, and a lot of them are happy to have pets in the sessions too. So before you reach out to me for your session, please make sure I’m the right photog for you.

I love the idea of shooting outdoors, but I don’t feel comfortable having my pup off-leash. Is there a way to still shoot outdoors?

Absolutely! Believe it or not, for the majority of the photographs you see in my portfolio/blogs, the pups were actually on-leash. We are able to photo-shop the leash out in post-production in most instances and can work around that, no problem! So please, don’t let the leash-dilemma stop you from choosing a gorgeous outdoor location!

Do you have a cancellation policy?

We at Wag Your Tail Photography understand that life gets in the way sometimes. There is no cancellation fee, but we ask that you give us the courtesy of a cancellation notice at least 3-4 days prior to a shoot, if possible. That way we can plan accordingly and/or schedule another pooch or kitty in your place and everyone is happy! If you ditch us on the day of the shoot without warning or explanation, we will consider ourselves stood up at prom and reserve the right to refuse to re-schedule you, depending on the circumstances. Since we love our customers and have never had this issue, we consider ourselves lucky not to worry about charging cancellation fees. (Knock on wood!)

How do I get my images?

The images we send to you are often voluminous and large files, so you have three choices for delivery of your photographs: (1) Dropbox/Google Drive, (2) WeTransfer; and (3) thumb drive. Our preferred methods are Dropbox/Google Drive or WeTransfer, because they’re very easy and quick. However, we are happy to send you a thumb drive of all of your images as well. The one time we tried to send a DVD, our lovely U.S. Postal Service managed to deliver it in 100 different pieces, so we no longer transfer files that way.

When will I get my images?

We generally take time to sort through all the photographs and send you the best of your un-edited, not yet retouched, images within a few days following your session. At that point, you will choose the images you would like us to fully retouch and shoot us an email or call us with your choices. As soon as we get your choices, we will start working on them. You can generally expect to have your fully retouched images within a week or so thereafter depending on the number of images and complexity of retouching requested. Of course, the more images you request to have re-touched, the more time it will take us. But, we know you are eager to have these beauties in your possession, so we always do our best to get them done as expeditiously as possible! That being said, we are only human.

What style or type of photographs can I expect?

This may not be something I get asked all the time, but it may be something you are thinking to yourself. The easiest & best way to answer this question is to look through our Portfolio (dog photography & cat photography), Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. The style/type of photograph you see there pretty much represents our approach to pet photography. As you will see, we offer studio photography in our Denver studio and outdoor photography where pets can be in their natural element. The focus of the lens is on your pet but we try to incorporate as much background as suits the moment. So basically, what you see in the photographs we have posted, is generally the type of photograph you can expect from your pet’s session with Wag Your Tail Photography. However, we are avid believers in growth and exploring new creative angles, so you may see different types of photos come through from time to time. As is our philosophy in life, we hope to keep evolving with our photography. If you are open to trying something new, let us know! Also, if you have any particular vision or ideas for your shoot, talk to us to see if we’re a good fit for what you are looking for! The key here is communication. If you choose us, we pretty much assume you like our style and are looking for these types of photographs.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash (preferred), Venmo/Zelle, personal checks and credit cards. No need to pre-pay (unless it’s a gift certificate, of course). Payment is due at the time of the shoot.

How should I prepare my pet/s for a shoot?

Great question. In general it’s STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to make sure they get plenty of exercise before the shoot so they are more relaxed than usual. Take them for nice long walk or run. If you have a cat, this is obviously not as critical. If it’s important to you, please make sure they are washed and groomed to your liking. Their cleanliness is your judgment. Check my blogs about Prepping Your Furkid(s) for an Outdoor Session and a Studio Session for more info on this!

Do you offer/include prints in your packages?

Yes we do! We fully understand that many people want to have prints of their beautiful images. If you would like us to handle all of your printing needs, we are happy to do so. You can also do it yourself if you’d prefer.

Is there a fee for travel?

If the destination is within 20 miles of the Denver, there is no fee. If your shoot is more than 40 miles round trip, we charge between $25 and $50 depending on the total mileage to get to you and back to home base at Wag Your Tail Photography. If you are outside of the immediate Denver area, shoot us and email and we will try to accommodate you!

Do I get the rights to print and/or publish the images I purchase with my WYTP package?

Yes. The package you purchase from WYTP includes the rights to print and/or publish for personal use only any of the images that are transferred to you from the session. Please read our complete Print Release Form here for full details. If you have any questions, feel free to email us!
