Happy Tails | Sophie Finds Her Pawfect Furever Home

Last fall before we relocated to Denver, CO, we had the incredible honor of photographing BEAUTI-ful Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue (DVSHR) foster girl, Sophie. Our session was a big celebration of very exciting news for Sophie. You see, Sophie had just been adopted by a previous DVSHR adopter! Happy happy tails, indeed!! Her rescue story is an incredible story of overcoming trying odds.

Sophie had a long and trying journey last year. She came to DVSHR weighing a whopping 92 pounds! 😲 But, after a low calorie prescription diet & two good walks every day, she is now proud to announce she weighs 57 pounds! She has lost 35 pounds! Sophie is up to walking about 4 miles a day, and her stamina is coming along very well. This is an incredible feat for Miss Sophie. The credit most definitely goes to her incredible foster momma, who is now her furever momma!

Sophie is your typical husky girl. She knows what she wants, and she knows how to get it! Sophie loves sleeping on the bed, one of her dog beds, or on the “forbidden” couch. HAHA! She also still enjoys her mealtimes, which are now health-conscious and so much yummier. Above all, Sophie’s momma describes her as a good girl, and we found her to be extremely loving and charming.

Fostering is such a vital and truly life-saving act.Fostering a rescue dog or cat opens up space for another homeless pet to be taken in and given a second chance at a happy life. To all of you who foster, thank you! And to those who have the heart and resources to consider it, please reach out to your local rescues to see how you can help. And if fostering is not something you can assist with at this time, consider how you may help a rescue in some other way. Not only will you serve an incredibly important purpose in these homeless pets’ lives, it will fill your heart and soul with incredible happiness once you do! And, of course, monetary donations are always incredibly helpful as well to assist rescues with crucially important medical care, food, transport, etc.

If you are in the Northeast of the country, reach out to Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue to see how you can volunteer and help! If you are elsewhere in the nation, reach out to your local rescue(s)!! Happy tails, sweet Sophie girl. We are so happy you and your foster momma found each other! Wishing them both all the love, health and happiness in the world!!
